SUNY- ESF Claims 2025 Women's and Men's Track & Field National Championships
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 26, 2025) … Behind a deep distance running group, the SUNY-ESF Oaks swept to the team titles of the 2025 USCAA Track and Field National Championships held Saturday at American International College.
On the men’s side, the Oaks compiled 119 points to edge out in-state rival Albany College of Pharmacy (100) and Florida National University (97). In the women’s championship, SUNY-ESF accumulated 142 points to run past Albany College of Pharmacy (103.5) and Carlow (99).
SUNY-ESF’s men compiled 15 points in the 800 meters with a 4-5-6-7-8 finish and went 4-5-6 in the 1500 for another 12 points. They added another 12 points with a 1-7 finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase as Colin Flannery won the event in 10:57.71 and pulled 20 points in the 5000 meters with a 2-4-5-6 showing as Flannery took second in 17:14.97. The Oaks also pulled 20 points in the 10,000 meters with a 2-3-4-8 finish as Dan Mack took second in 37:08.60.
Also winning events for the Oaks on the men’s side were Joseph Striffler in the triple jump with a leap of 12.55m (41-2.25) and the 4x400 relay team in 3:32.38.
For the women, SUNY-ESF accumulated 24 points in the 800 meters with a 2-3-5-6-7-8 finish and 25 points in the 1500 with a 1-4-5-6-7-8 showing behind Margaret Ryan’s winning time of 5:03.57.
In the 5,000, the Oaks scored 28 points with a 2-3-4-5-6-7 showing and added another 28 points in the 10,000, finishing 1-2-3-5. Bryce Hopper won in 46:19.40. Grace Tanski also took first place in the 3000-meter steeplechase, winning in 13:41.95.
NHTI’s Eli Lemire was the lone triple-winner in the men’s championship on Saturday as he captured the men’s 1,500 (4:11.02), 5,000 meters (17:11.48), and 10,000 meters (36:50.40) to account for all 30 of NHTI’s points.
Timothy Hudson, Jr., won a pair of events for Albany College of Pharmacy, winning the discus in 42.66 meters and the hammer throw in 39.60 meters.
Georgia Burton took three first-place finishes for the Maine-Fort Kent women as she won the discus (36.45m), hammer throw (35.53m), and the shot put (10.35m), accumulating 30 of UMFK’s 65 points.
Jaylen Williams won a pair of events for Beacon College, capturing the 100 meters in 12.56 and winning the long jump with a leap of 5.06 meters.
